Artist's Commentary

This intricate design was chosen to display a new flag mockup for the city of Akron, Ohio. The design is fairly simple. The top half color represents hope and new beginning. The bottom half color represents irrigation. Irrigation is big there in the fields and normally people associate brown because of dirt in fields and so on. The three lines simply connect the idea of the lines in the field into one. The star mainly emphasizes the idea of connecting these themes for hope. The old flag had wording and lettering on it. In the new flag, the wording is combined into illustrations and ideas that attract the eye along with the color.
