Branding boom saloon: colour

the boom room is part of a triple stranded business which also includes boom saloon, the print magazine democratising creativity for good; and boom projects, an ongoing series of community led projects which use creativity to inspire and empower. Conceptualising, branding, editing, designing, producing and publishing boom saloon magazine was the boom room's very first job, and one held consistently close to our hearts. 

The studio had the luxury of time for this project, exploring multiple possibilities before settling on an aesthetic worthy of a publication with such a bold mission. boom saloon showcases the talent of creatives from all backgrounds, all around the world; it was essential we created something knowledgable and intelligent whilst quiet and thoughtful – doing justice to the incredible contributors whose work filled the pages.  

Whilst honing in on typography for the publication, we simultaneously explored various colour palettes – experimenting with poppy brights alongside more subdued pastels to create a family of colours which are both insightful and refined whilst engaging. These continue to develop and evolve as we publish the latest issues of boom saloon
