Four Hundred and Thirty Six Little Acts of Devotion reflects on creative activity as an act of repetition, abandonment and even routine. Reiteration and compulsion are tied to art-making as a discipline set in time. The resulting piece, itself, is but a frustrated attempt to encase, order and catalogue time in a physical containment, as if it was an entomological specimen.
This piece was created for the show To/From Tawney and is a response to the work of the late Lenore Tawney.
