The Problem:
The objective of this project was to create the front and side of a cereal box that appealed to a specific clientèle. The design had to utilize bright colors and a mascot to go along with the cereal.

The Solution:
I decided to focus on college students and young adults between the ages of 16-30 that don’t have enough time to cook breakfast every morning and need caffeine to get their day going.
There aren't too many competitors in the market that create caffeinated cereal but I was able to find Coffee Flakes by Cereal Vit, whose biggest criticisms were that the coffee did not have enough coffee flavor and that there were hints of fish flavor since they use fish oil in the cereal. I also found Organic Graham Crunch by Cascadian Farm as a popular organic cereal for my target audience. While this cereal was highly rated on Amazon.com most of the negative reviews pertained to the cereal containing gluten.

The Results:
My box design took the criticism from both cereals and created a cereal that is gluten free and has a stronger coffee taste. I made it clear that this cereal had a prominent coffee flavor with the name Esspress O’s, and used the Gluten-Free sticker on my packaging. With my cereal they can have both caffeine and an organic, gluten-free  breakfast at the same time.
