Brief
Merlin Entertainments operates over 120 visitor attractions and resort theme parks in over 25 countries, with world-renowned brands Madame Tussauds, Sea Life and Legoland amongst their vast portfolio.
Undergoing a refit of their Madame Tussauds attraction in Amsterdam, Merlin approached me to design new large format print graphics for a number of themed zones such as TV, Film, Royals and Music. The vinyl behind each wax figure had to provide an engaging photo opportunity, be visually cohesive with the overall theming plan for the space, and inform visitors by giving them a sense of the figure’s place within popular culture.
Solution
Working closely with Madame Tussauds’ Senior Creative Director and liaising with several stakeholders including offshore printers, I developed concepts based on research into each figure’s background, artworking final print-ready graphics in Illustrator and solving issues related to the technical limitations of large format printing.
