SNAKES & LADDERS | 15 BICM POSTER FINALIST

15th International Mexico Poster Biennial

The International Mexico Poster Biennial is one of the three oldest in the world and the forerunner of its kind in America.  Every two years, the civil association of the same name, organizes the poster event best positioned in Mexico and an obligatory reference in the five continents. This initiative is what has transformed other biennials in the world, given the image and presence of Mexico abroad and initiated young people in the teaching of design as a transformer of the environment. Since its inception, the project has been the precursor with an educational format and is currently a leader in the implementation of virtual technologies.

 Socio-economic Poster

Every year, categories are launched in collaboration with different institutions. The socio-economic poster category was carried out together with the Federal Commission for Economic Competition, where the main objective was to create an image that showed obstacles and barriers that inhibit competition and entrepreneurship.

The poster is a reflection on the difficulties presented to small entrepreneurs, unlike those with greater purchasing power, making a comparison with the traditional snakes and ladders game. The game consists of a board divided into numbered squares, which are connected by snakes or ladders. The ladders help the player win more quickly, while the snakes take him down. The image is a simile of actions that favor monopolistic practices and impede
entrepreneurship, whether by bureaucracy or corruption. In turn, in the boxes of the board are
icons of products or sectors that tend to be monopolies.
