Glyph Magazine cover design

Glyph magazine is a graphic design publication with a focus on bringing the 'then' and the 'when?' together through an aesthetic fusion of low-fidelity production techniques and speculative future design ideas. The magazine serves to provide inspiration and joy to the reader through content and typographic consideration. The essence of GLYPH is reflected in every production choice, always welcoming new ideas whilst staying grounded in what has previously been explored by successful typographers.
The magazine cover was risograph printed onto an uncoated recycled stock. In addition to its necessary function, the barcode has been utilised as a decorative element.
The cover image is a piece of mark-making; originally printed with black ink. A digital file was created from a photo of the artwork so that it could be edited for riso print.

With all crucial information on the flap, the A4 cover underneath can be torn off along its hidden perforated edge and used as an art print / wall decoration. Its secondary use is a means of promotion of both the magazine itself and of the beauty of well-curated art and typography- with an aim of bringing the well-versed designer and the 'layman' together in conversation.
This custom masthead was created using Emigre's 'Oblong' as a base. Once riso printed I coated the masthead with a thin layer of gloss for greater definition and contrast between the two textures.
