Airport Report
Infographic Book

Airport Report translates data provided by Airports Council International (ACI) into infographics that demonstrate changes in the airport industry. This long-term project explores the principles of typography, the grid and page layout.

The book is a vehicle to communicate ideas. It tells a story that engages the reader—whether it is pure information or a compelling narrative. The book’s design is considered on two levels: the big picture and the details.

The big picture deals with the physical properties of the book: the size, the number of pages, the materials used to construct the book. These materials—paper, printing and binding methods—determine the distinct tactile qualities of the publication.

The details consist of the visual elements on the page. The overall grid controls the horizontal and vertical movement of the eye on the page as much as the letters, words and illustrations. This organizational construct helps the designer coordinate all the elements on the page and determine how the reader interacts with the book. The details also include: the typeface, text columns, headings, captions and folios.
