About the movie
The movie Chungking Express (1994) consists of two stories told in sequence, each about a lovesick Hong Kong policeman mulling over his own relationship. The first story stars Takeshi Kaneshiro as a cop obsessed with his ex, May, and his encounter with a mysterious drug smuggler. The second stars Tony Leung as an officer roused from the loss of his flight attendant girlfriend by the attentions of a quirky snack bar worker.

"The fantastical emerges from the mundane"
In Chungking Express, the characters meet incidentally, but end up having strong impacts on each other. Their relationships develop based on small moments that could be perceived as trivial, but are rich in meaning for the two of them.
Examining details of the Midnight Express, the location where many incidental yet significant moments in the film occur, has significant objects that are related to 4 characters in the film. The objects in the shop begin to float, break apart and stay in the air at the end of sequence, telling the story of mundane to fantastical.
