You can spot Stephen’s characters a mile off. Part South Park, part children’s book, the naughty, round-headed folk that populate Stephen’s drawings are what make his style instantly recognisable, which Stephen himself admits:

“I think the most recognisable element of my work is my character design.”

He’s worked with numerous high-profile brands over the years on a multitude of different briefs. “I guess the briefs that are the most enjoyable for me are the ones that give me most freedom. Having certain guidelines to follow, be it colour palette or content, can definitely be a positive for the final result, but if there are too many rules then it can be a bit restrictive to the work as a whole.”
