THINKING THOUGHTS
The Waiting Room Words Project
In conjunction with NSW Arts & Health
This project was completed in my last semester at University, where we are given a brief in small groups that are from a real-world client. We must work alongside the client, address their needs & by the end of the semester have complete the brief to perfection.
Our brief was given to us from the NSW Art & Leadership Program & the Institute of Creative Health where we solely communicated with the director, Helen Zigmond.
Our brief required us to take a collection of written contributions from volunteers explaining how the creative arts has influenced and aided their health or recovery. With this brief having an immense amount of emotion & raw material behind it, we had to make a huge effort to make sure we do this brief not only justice but make the contributors proud.
The Waiting Room Words Project is a project that appeared in the form of a small A5 sized book. It is read in the waiting rooms of both rural and urban health care centres all throughout NSW.
The book will offer a meaningful and reflective experience. The book provides those sitting in waiting rooms an opportunity to escape from the tedious and anxious time waiting for their appointment. The book is a doorway leading to thoughtful reflection to one's own memories and experiences of creative arts.
