The atmosphere that lays over the city when darkness comes is for me inspiring. Darkness itself for me is a kind of natural force. Artistically it can provide us experiences as wonderful as the ones we would have in daylight. These shots, made in Moscow this summer are some of my favorite night shots, and I actually wasn't expecting to produce such good pictures when I went out that night just planning to meet a friend.
The dark woods awakened creativity.
In general, when postprocessing these pictures I try to leave some shades of blue in the shadows, and saturate with shades of orange the lamps and other lights around. During the moment of capture I decrease considerably the level of exposure, in order to get a better shutter speed and sharpness. The focus doesn't work nicely in such conditions, however they still seem to contain a kind of beauty, worth to have a look at.
The best of all from this series was definitely this one taken from the edge of the lake, in front of Moscow State University, building that was designed using Stalinist architecture.
