City of Rexburg Healthy Living Project
SimpliFive, 2018

In 2015 the City of Rexburg was one of three Idaho cities to be
awarded a “Community Transformation Grant” from the Blue
Cross of Idaho Foundation. The purpose of these grants is to help
communities become healthier through increased opportunities
for physical activity and nutrition; particularly as these pertain to
children and families.

The goal of this project is to effect measurable change in the eating habits of residents of our community and region. We want people to make healthier eating choices to increase overall health and wellness. While this project main purpose and objective is to promote healthy eating, the grant and overall objective is also to increase physical activity throughout the community and region.

I worked with a team of four other people: Emily Potter, Crystal Wiseman, Alise Gardner, and Krista Hiu Nam Chan; to propose a solution to their problem. We were one of five teams given this task. Through our research and experimentation, we came up with the idea of simpliFive. This concept communicated the idea of making health simple by our process of breaking everything up into five simple categories.

SimpliFive is a program designed around simple recipes, nutritional eating and healthy challenges customizable to the individual. The project involved creating recipe cards, designing an end cap for a grocery store, poster and banners; and prototyping a website. My role in the project mostly focused on branding and website design. Follow this link https://invis.io/EVO1VGAPC4Z to check out my interactive website prototype.

Below are samples of the work and the process we went through. The logo and sub-logos were created by stamping different types of food in paint. This allowed us to create a fun, organic logo that that not only spoke to the adults but to the children as well.
