Emergency situations mainly include hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, many other types of occurrences. These occurrences do not give more than just a few seconds to grab anything you may be able to use during the emergency situation and get out of the area. Thus, it is pretty much important to keep the essential things ready to survive an emergency situation. And so, we are going to talk about preparation of an emergency survival kit.
The basics of an emergency survival kit
There may be slight to major difference between the kits for different situation. But the basics of every survival kit are usually the same. Those basic items are worth mentioning here.

1. Water is the basic necessity in every situation. When an emergency occurs, you need to make sure that you have access to clean water for drinking and other needs. Most of the people talk about stocking water bottles, pouches and gallons. But the matter of fact is that moving with plenty of water in emergency situation might become impossible. The best solution in this regard is to keep a portable water filtration system. If you have an access to a stream of water, this filtration system will give you an access to unlimited supply of drinkable water.
2. You need to have at least three days’ worth of nonperishable foods in your emergency survival kit. For this purpose, you can have energy bars which remain safe for use for a long time. Therefore, it is a good idea to keep a few boxes of Clif bars which are not only full of energy but they also taste good.
3. When you are out of your home due to emergency situation, you may need to spend your nights in the area where there will be no electricity. Therefore, it is quite important to have portable lighting arrangements. Flashlights are quite handy but you also need to have a bigger lamp to light up your surroundings in the night.
4. During emergency situation, you might get stuck in an area which could be out of the cell phone network coverage. Moreover, the networks malfunction during such situations. In those scenarios, you need to make sure that you have something to call for help. For this purpose, you need to have whistles which can draw attention of people at a bit of a distance towards your site.
5. The emergency survival kit will not be complete without first aid supplies. Medical emergencies can happen anywhere; and this risk is even higher when you are out from your hometown due to an emergency situation in the area. The first aid kit can help you in saving lives of you and your family members.
