Micro!Festival Dortmund—25 years of world music and international street theatre

The cultural festival with the cheerful atmosphere of a Mediterranean piazza combines a culturally sophisticated programming with the character of a city festival. It presents fascinating insights into foreign countries and cultures. In recent years, the quality and originality of the artists invited by the Cultural Office of the City of Dortmund has ensured a steadily growing fan community, which traditionally meets for the festival at the end of the summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The new appearance ties in with the design of the last 25 years. The word mark used is a direct evolution of the lettering used since the first festival. However, a graphic system replaces the previously used photographs. Constantly newly composed patterns of basic graphic forms quote folk art and folklore as well as national flags. The result is a visual language of its own for the Micro!Festival. An independent identity that leaves room for association for visitors, organizers and performers. A design that changes from year to year with the programme and the mood of the festival.

The geometric typeface used for headlines is Haptik by Grilli Type.
