Design as Observation: Part 1 and Part 2

Design as Observation
The collection I have decided to start is a collection of windows. The reason I have decided to take pictures of windows is because of my interest in geometrical shapes and lines, as well as the light and reflections that are cast on windows. I also wanted to take pictures of windows because you can take a picture of a window from many different angles and still make it an interesting and completely different composition. I believe that with my collection of windows it will provide for an interesting final product and evaluation of myself. I found that I am less comfortable with taking pictures of windows from an outside location. I feel more comfortable if I am inside and looking out the window towards outside. This may also be because when I am outside looking inward towards the window during the daytime, you can see my reflection. When it is dark outside, I can easily see my reflection just by staying inside. Not only is this project making me consider my feelings and my comfortability with taking photos, but it is also making me consider how light and darkness really affect my mood. I am very attracted to high contrast light and dark and sharp lines. I would much rather prefer harsh and captivating light in high contrast, rather than soft light.
