Knitted friends are the best friends, and Melly the super-cute elephant gives unbeatable cuddles. Knitted in garter stitch, Melly also has a bright patchwork blanket saddle.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the elephant is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).  A crochet hook is used to add a blue crochet border to the blanket.

A pair of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles (US 4) 

Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour

Crochet hook, toy filling, tapestry needle, and domed buttons for eyes.

One size only - 17cm tall x 19cm long.

For confident beginners and above, techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
