The Task
The client for this project is my polytechnic's Diploma in Music & Audio Technology (DMAT) Course. They are celebrating their 10th anniversary and they are hosting an event that invites all students, alumni and special guests for a day of musical fun and camaraderie. They approached The Student Agency and requested a logo that represents their course that they can showcase during the event.
Within The Student Agency, we all have an internal competition for the winning design. We submitted our designs to our lecturers, who presents them to the department heads of DMAT. Then, they will choose the design that they want.
The Concept
For my design, I was inspired from my time back in my secondary school's concert band. There were a lot of elements of music that I can play with. I ultimately went with a piano, which is a big icon for music. As students of musical compositions, I believe that a piano is also common used for MIDI sequencing which is fitting as well.
My challenge was figuring out how to represent 'audio technology' in the logo as well. I thought wave forms but I did not manage to apply it in a nice way before the logo submission deadline was upon me.
Luckily for me, my piano logo was chosen and another fellow design in the agency had a nice pixel wave form that was requested to include in my logo. So this logo was a joint effort by the both of us.
