For this project, we were assigned to create op-eds for an article dealing with oppressed student journalists on campus.
Here are the two designs I started with, the first using columns to resemble institution and an overlay of newsprint to represent journalism. The second features a fountain pen nib for the iconography of journalism, but the center was transformed into an apple to represent education and students.
Adjustments I made to my designs, the first needed a contrast boost, and I added a drop of ink under the nib of the second design.
