Sculpture project - State of Mind

State of Mind
an ongoing sculpture project since 1994
The project "State of Mind" has gone a long way since it started with a clay modeled head from which I made silicone mold. Along the way it became a big project with several hundreds of variations in different fields such as sculpture, photo montages, installations and graphic works. The size of the project does not belong to the individual works, but the time span of 25 years - almost a lifetime achievement.
Gren man, mixed meda, 20x20x20cm
The original idea was to model a stoic head in clay that, through its neutral expression, paradoxically could evoke many different feelings and interpretations depending on the circumstances in which it was placed while being the same.
In other words every newly cast head is similar and what is happening in the post-sculpting makes it individual. This cast and change process makes possible indefinite variations of the same original head and opens up for a specific way to explore and compare expressions/interpretations within that limitation.
Squared, mixed media
The cast/change process is metaphorically similar to when twins grow up and interact with different environments. The differences is due to the impact of circumstances.
The settings in which the head appear, approaches and media has been been changing over the time. More recently it is part of a time-related project where casts of the head interact with nature to photographed in different seasons and to wither for longer time periods.
State of Mind, installation in the forest, head ca 40 x 20 x 25 cm, pigmented plaster and roots
State of Mind, ca 40 x 20 x 25 cm, ultramarine pigmented plaster and rowan roots
State of Mind, 10x22x10cm, mixed materials.

Thank you for watching and
don't forget to appreciate this
