MOIRE: Catalog design

Moire: Photography catalog is a experiment in graphic design for my BFA in CSULB. My attempt was to combine both organic and rigid elements in a 2D design.  The idea was to structure a catalog from a technical stand point; but have it evoke a sense of organic playfulness. The reason for the photography catalog is because it is supposed to mirror the duality photographers and cinematographers must balance. In order to be successful in those fields you have to be a very technical person to understand how the technology works --while at the same time be able to use it creatively. The catalog gets it's rigid and structured elements from the Grid and simple  practical layout and it's playful organic elements from the typography and photography used; as well as the stories set up with in.

Catalog: The layout was created in InDesign and uses a modified version of Jan Tschichold canon for creating grids and a structure through out.

Photography: I did all of the photography (except the product, ie: the lenses) and used long exposure techniques along with HDRI imagery and lots of compositing in photoshop.

Logo and Typography: The Moire logo was designed in Illustartor with some Hi-res photoshoping done. All of the typography was first tested in photoshop and then imported in to InDesign along with pallets and other elements.
