Basketball | Typographical Project

This project that began in mid December was based around the idea of designing a typographical poster that would help display a literal-narrative for the word “Basketball”, by the way of a visual style that combines minimalism and simplicity together.

As you will see, the final outcome consists of the word “Basketball” being placed in a bold Helvetica font, with both “L” letters doubling as part of the hoop board, alongside other illustrations such as the rest of the hoop board itself, the actual hoop and net, and a path-trail to help show where the ball fell and likely landed.

To push the overall depth of the design that little bit further, I decided to include lighting gradients alongside a grain texture in order to help push away from a look that I felt would appear far too flat, and way too polished for my own personal liking.
