This series pays tribute to the animals that live alongside us, recognising that they have an equal right to enjoy the planet as we do, and drawing the parallels between our experience of existence.

Traveling to the most remote parts of the world where the glow of manmade lights dare not encroach and no tarred roads bring human visitors, stars shine blindingly in the night sky. In places such as the Midriff Islands of the Sea of Cortez and the Sierra Nevadas of California, I have had the fortune of seeing these magnificent beings in their natural habitat, their biology finely attuned to their environment. In these places absent of the artificial confines of aquariums, zoos and farms that constitute most interspecies interactions, humans are of no higher caste, subject to the laws of nature as equally as any other being.

In these uncontrollable space then, I lose my sense of self importance. I gain a sense of connectedness to the universe around me, and a feeling of content and gratefulness for my existence.
