In light of the continued gun violence and inaction by Republicans in the United States Senate, I was trying to design a graphic that would catch people's attention. I started with this powerful image of a Connecticut Mom who witnessed the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre.

My first attempt was a Twitter graphic. I had two comments. Both centered on the phrase "when will WE pass" a law, so I knew I had to change that. While the House of Representatives passed gun control legislation, it is being held up by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in the Senate.

These tweaks increased engagement by over 300+ percent.

I adapted the Twitter design for Instagram.

I messed around with another Instagram post and changed the copy. The image of the grieving Mom is striking. I feel strongly about this issue, and Moms are more politically engaged. In a modern civilized society, the average citizen does NOT need a gun or a weapon of war. I haven't posted this yet, and will wait until the new year.
