The Power of Paper

This was a 2-week workshop in handmade paper making. During the workshop we learnt the whole process of recycling paper and cloth to design our own set of creative papers with different properties and uses. 

This was a truly rejuvenating workshop, where we got a new perspective on the uses and properties of paper as a material. We learnt how to make paper and how to create variations in it while processing. We worked in groups to make two large compositions of paper with different concepts. As the conclusion to the course, we each came up with a concept for a product using all the skills we had learnt. 

I developed a flexible board-like surface, by infusing wire and sticks in paper, that would fold at particular points to make a multi-purpose product. It could be used as a low seating table, or a floor seating with a back rest, among other possibilities.
