The attached artworks are book cover designs made for award-winning Filipino novelist Lualhati Bautista. She is highly acclaimed for her works that highlight injustice and social activism throughout Philippine history, such as during the Martial Law period under authoritarian President Ferdinand Marcos. Together with Anvil Publishing (Philippines), we redesigned with a unified look the covers of her most popular works.

Dekada ‘70 is the story of Amanda, a mother of five, whose sons turn to different sides of the political spectrum during the Philippines' oppressive Martial Law era that lasted from 1972 to 1981. The vision for this book cover is to show a nation united against the tyranny of the former dictator Marcos. It is taken from the image of protestors that faced water cannons on the streets of Manila.

Desaparesidos recounts the horrific experiences of people who have gone missing during Martial Law, and the blatant violation of their human rights. The vision for the book cover is to show a glimpse of the solitary nature of suffering and physical torture that the still-missing victims had to endure.

'Gapô, which is short for Olongapo, is a town north of Manila that sits beside the former American naval base of Subic in the Philippines. On the cover is the book's nightclub named "Freedom Pad".

Bata, Bata… Pa’no ka Ginawa (Child, Child... How were you made?) is the story of a Filipina social activist and single mother fighting against Philippine society's views on women and parenthood. On the cover are typical chalkboard scrawls that educate the young – not with the usual maths or languages, but with A-merican Imperialism, D-ictatorship, K-illings, M-ilitarization, R-evolution, T-yranny, and so on.
