The Family Illustration (Work in Progress)

When I was a kid one of my dreams was to have my artwork grace the pages of essence magazine. This book-holy bible if you will, held in it the thoughts, dreams and aspirations of black women. Women are the foundation of the family. They are tasked with putting themselves last for the sake of everyone else. Whose checking in on them when they need it most? Black women are expected to endure trauma from all angles-a burden no one should have to face alone
I intentionally set out to put them first in my illustrations.
My Illustrations aim to help ease that burden. To give women that extra encouragement they may need in order to keep going. It is my mission to bring a sense of solace to all who view my work however, I have an obligation to showcase black women as the powerful beings they are. That’s what essence magazine does. That’s what I intend to do.
Check out this work in progress shot of my latest illustration! !!! I can see this on the pages of @essence one day! #essencemagazine #essence #jaleelcampbell #blackart #digitalart #illustration #edwardianfashion #harlemarts #harlem
