On Monday, December 9th, The Suburban Collection hosted its second year of “The Suburban Sleigh” program. Through this holiday initiative, “elves” from our organization donated a complete (and portable) miniature recording studio to the non-profit organization Kids Kicking Cancer.

Based in Southfield, Michigan, Kids Kicking Cancer has assisted over 7,000 children across eight countries, using the power of breathing techniques and therapeutic martial arts forms. This helps the children calm themselves and feel empowered to overcome the pain and anxiety that comes with being a pediatric patient. Kids Kicking Cancer’s supports children fighting serious diseases such as cancer, sickle cell anemia and those awaiting organ transplants. Because many children can feel isolated as they cope with their illness, 

the organization also supports worldwide connectedness to help kids feel a sense of normal and to be victors, not victims of their illness. 

Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg, founder and international director of Kids Kicking Cancer, said that with the new audio and video capabilities being provided by The Suburban Collection, the children will now have an even greater opportunity to “breathe in the light and blow out the darkness.” 

Kids Kicking Cancer will use the equipment to enhance the organization’s national and international video communications capabilities between students including offering program access to children in locations where chapters do not yet exist.  The facilities will also make it possible for in-home program participants who are unable to attend classes to learn breathing, visualization and relaxation techniques remotely.
