Dena McMurdie grew up in the breathtaking foothills of the Canadian Rockies. It was there that she developed her passion and love for nature, the figure, and art. She won several awards in her youth, including multiple awards from the Annual Art Competition for the American Quarter Horse Youth Association, Outstanding Artist in her class at Cardston High School, and was a recipient of the Kelly Davis Art Scholarship.
She obtained a Bachelor's of Fine Art degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho where she received multiple scholarships. In addition to solo and group exhibitions, she has participated in juried shows including Idaho Paints Idaho at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, Richeson 75 Landscape and Seascape Competition, and the Eighth International LDS Art Competition. Dena has won several awards for her artwork, including Second Award in the Idaho Paints Idaho Competition and the Birthday Her Way Competition with Hallmark Cards Inc. She has also served as a juror for the Second Century Photography Competition in Twin Falls, Idaho, and the 75th Hoosier Salon Art Competition in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her work has been collected in the United States, Canada, and Europe. She North Carolina with her husband and three children.
