PROJECT analysis
This is our third-stage housing and planning project located in the mountains of shaqlawa near erbil in iraqi kurdistan.
The projects is for 18000 inhabitants on a site of 120 hectares. It consists of different single-family, multi-family houses and different kind of public services. There are six neighborhoods, and all of them have services, houses and multi-family houses.
The residential part has been divided into 6 types which are: detached, row, town, low-rise, midrise, and high-rise. There are four types of housing types in each neighborhood. And are spread across the project. The division has been carefully analyzed, and divided according to family sizes and family incomes. Multi-family houses and detached houses have been put on the lowest and highest grounds while the other types are between.
The services have been divided in to three types which are for: 18000,6000 and 3000 inhabitants. The services for the 18000 is located in the middle of the project with roads going towards it. The services are shopping center, health center, police station, fire department.. etc.
The service for 6000 is located between each 2 neighborhoods, a total of 3. They consist of intermediate school, pharmacy and others.
The services for 3000 are in the middle of each neighborhood. Total 6. Which have schools, kindergartens, gardens, mosques and so on.
There are also cornershops and tot-lots across the project.
There are arterial roads, collector roads and cul-de-sacs, and garages provided for all residents and services, but the main type of movement in the project is pedestrian movement.
There is a 12m wide pedestrian route that connects all neighborhoods. A 6m wide pedestrian route that connects the neighborhoods with the main center, another 6m wide pedestrian route that loops in the neighborhoods, and a 3m pedestrian route that connects the main pedesterian routes with the houses and services.
