Nature is often regarded as an abstract setting secondary to the actions and goals of humans. Our tendency to situate the environment into human time and order is rooted in the anthropocentric dialogue that we maintain by distancing ourselves from nature. We Appreciate Nature In Boxes aims to hone in on the subversion of the natural world at the hands of people through visualizing passive expressions of distancing. Much of the subject matter employs imagery of aquatic tanks as a means to demonstrate specific extrusions of nature in a domestic setting. The tanks suggest the innate desire to be near fauna and flora while simultaneously uprooting them and degrading their environments.
