Stuffed
Stuffed is a 2D Fighting Game where you play as an action figure trying to stop the stuffed animals from locking your fellow action figures in the toy box forever. The controls and gameplay is inspired by Super Smash Bros series fighting.
Stuffed was a 4 week final project in a group of 4. There was no prompt for this project and decided early on that we wanted it to be a fighting game.

Another group was doing a traditional 2D Tekken type fighter so we decided to make a game with similar controls and fighting style as Super Smash Bros. More specifically, we wanted to make the gameplay to be like Space Emissary in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
For those familiar with SSB controls, only the A-tilt and aerial attacks are used for this character.
For those unfamilar with SSB controls, pressing A while holding a direction prompts the character to use a different type of attack, including just press A without holding any direction. For example, A + left would result in a forward kick while pressing A + left in the air would perform a downwards punch.
Originally, there were only suppose to be a few enemies each wave of enemies, but it ended up too easy. So we decided to weaken the enemies and flood the later waves with more enemies to create a challenge for those who get overwhelmed.
The boss was inspired by Cuphead bosses where the boss has an attack pattern in the beginning with short indicators when an certain attack is about to happen. To add difficulty, small mobs were added to create and the attack pattern is broken after the boss has lost a certain amount of health. This is so player need to really learn the indicators, react quickly, and decide what is the biggest threat to avoid being killed.
If my team continued to work on this project, we would improve the readability of enemy attacks, add effects to the player attacks and enemy attacks, add more animation frames to certain attacks to make them smoother, fix hitboxes, fix landing glitches, improve enemy AI, add another distinct phase to the boss fight, use cleaner sounds, and continue to find play testers to find more glitches.
