Clothespin Airplane Holiday Decorations
Whimsical mobiles with colorful planes and glittering clouds.
Each year I make holiday decorations for my home. This theme was requested by my (then) 2.5 year old with a passion for planes. The airplanes are a simple clothespin and popsicle stick construction accessorized with white pom poms and paint pen details. The clouds are crafted from cotton balls and then sprinkled with just the right amount of iridescent glitter. Strung from invisible fishing line, the finished pieces appear to be floating in air, and even bob about with the help of a gentle breeze.
These are easy enough for kiddos to make, but composed enough for adult decor, making them a lovely adornment for a nursery or living room alike. The clothespins still function, so planes can also be clipped as ornaments onto a holiday tree or a jacket lapel. Bonus: they can be re-configured into smaller mobile strands and shapes post-holiday and then re-gifted throughout the year.
