Cyanotype is an old photographic printing process that makes prints with a characteristic blue color called "Prussian blue". It was invented by astronomer John Herschel in 1842 but it was followed by botany Anna Atkins who put it into practice in 1843 with her compilations of illustrations of plants made with this technique.
