Last year, my youngest daughter suggested we get a Mother/Daughter tattoo.  Of course my eldest daughter asked why she wasn't included. So we all discussed it, but couldn't reach a an agreement on the subject matter; it would have to be something meaningful to all three of us...

I grew up having pet birds in the house and so did my children... so in 2015,  it wasn't a big surprise when I brought home another addition to the family; the sweetest little Pineapple Green Cheek Conure. My grown daughters fell in love with her and they began to visit more frequently. As a mom, I was thrilled that they were spending more time with me, until I realized that they were there to see the bird. They would spend an hour in the bird's room taking selfies with my little Scully.

In 2017, my oldest daughter purchased a baby Green Cheek Conure, although her Conure  didn't quite have the same sunny disposition. Fast forward to 2019, my youngest had just returned from her freshman year at UNL when she met a little Green Cheek that behaved more like a bat than a bird. She visited the pet store several times, until she could no longer resist the urge to bring her home. And of course, I agreed to take care of the bird until my daughter would be able to move out of the college dorms. My Scully and her new baby, Stella Luna, bonded instantly; fluffing and cuddling, gently preening each other, destroying their toys and sharing snacks. Watching this loving interaction is beyond heartwarming...it has inspired me to design our Mother/Daughter{s} tattoo to be a reflection of our love for these birds, as well as all of the previous birds we have shared our homes with...

Here is a preliminary example of my design. Of course, I still need to add Scully's tail,  and the lighting needs be adjusted to look consistent. Some of the finer details need to be enhanced & refined. Purely coincidental that the outline of the composition is in the shape of a heart. Hopefully, my girls will agree on this more easily than picking the restaurant..
