We live in a world with many devices that make our lives easier. Smartphones with our scheduled tasks, iPods with thousands of songs, memory cards with hundreds of forgotten photographs. We have a full life without time to assimilate what goes on around us. But sometimes, we need to stop.
Remember those sizeable high fidelity stereos we used to have at home? Its scratched discs of vinyl, its radio tuner poorly tuned, and that tape which could only play for one hour. It was essential to choose the content correctly. It was a slow and gentle process. Without rush.
For us, Yorokobu symbolizes this moment. Getting off from daily madness. Sitting down. Smelling the inked paper and reading. Quietly, with the necessary attention. Without rush.
