SEATTLE STING
Rebranding Concept
When I started this project, I knew I wanted to create a few visual assets for this brand but I just wasn’t sure how many or what they would look like. After sketching out ideas and tinkering in Adobe Illustrator, it became clear what this sports identity would look like.
The origin of this concept, started with realizing the space needle kinda looked like the abdomen of a wasp and I had to explore. Like any kind of logo design, no matter the industry, it’s always rewarding to conceptualize an idea that combines a couple elements together in a smart way.
The color palette is inspired by the former Seattle Supersonics NBA team with a few tweaks: added black and replaced white with a 25% tint of the gold. After the project was finished, I feel like this could be a really cool concept for a possible NHL hockey team if they officially decided to get a team in Seattle. The alliterative name just rolls off the tongue (I personally think it makes more sense than the rumored team name: ‘Kraken’).
