This three day project started with an idea, I wanted to create something simple, sustainable, and needed.
The problem I was looking to solve is the accumulation of hair in shower drains. Typical hair collectors require you to touch the wet hair in order to remove it, so I decided this new collector would have a handle for easy disposal.

The manufacturing process began with designing the mold in SolidWorks, then CNC milling the shape.
During the design process, I wanted to keep environmental sustainability as a core focus. Manta Re’s shape is poured from 100% recycled plastic.
Textures
I made the plastic particles out of various colored polypropylene packaging. I put it into an extruder and injected the molten plastic to the mold.
With the help of heat and pressure, Manta Re was born.
