Cultural Iterations
This assignment focused on adding meaningful animation to an existing poster. With Ikko Tanaka's Nihon Buyo poster, he manages to capture the essence of a traditional Japanese dance through geometry and color. I followed his approach and re-purposed the poster for four other traditional dance forms (Bharatnatyam, San Dance, Ballet and Dragon Dance). The process involved a lot of researching, understanding what colors were important, physical features of the dancers. In addition, to understand Ikko Tanaka's poster, I recreated it in Illustrator so that the proportions were built into my process and I could use the same shapes to iterate for the other dances.
