Mama was a dancer is a portrait of Laura Bury (my fiance) at the end of her 10 year career with 'Het Nationale Ballet' in Amsterdam.
The film is a tribute to her hard work, and a gift for our 2 year old son who may not remember her ever being a dancer. We take the viewer from the present into the past, following Laura as she remembers where it all began; The Royal Ballet School, London, aged 11. To her last weeks as a professional dancer, and the build up to her last performance.
The film is a ten Cate production in collaboration with ex dancer and filmmaker Altin Kaftira.
