During a typical southern spring here in North Carolina you may see me walking down the street holding my breath trying to breathe in as little as possible. I have used allergy medication, the neti pot, and now a runner's mask. 

Every year I find more ways to combat the pollen and the above mentioned tactics do work but somehow and some way pollen wins even if I have nasal congestion for a week.

In order to convey that mood visually I decided to illustrate this poor nose on the ground waving its white flag surrendering to the pollen. I loved revisiting the etch style I used on a previous project and using textures as pollen was a nice treatment.
