Resorts are nice, but when you visit the streets of a city you see the culture. Cuba was not a vacation to me, more an exploration of a culture I had not known prior to my visit. One thing I was told by a local was that everyone dresses like they have money, whether it was their last dime or not. Every person I passed had nice clothes and shoes to match, with bright colours and lots of accessories. Of course this may be different outside Havana, I can't be sure if it's like that all over, but it was a beautiful city to visit and so full of life.
