While studying abroad in Florence, Italy, I went into the marketplace (called Mercato Centrale) and did detailed colored pencil drawings of the meat that I found there. I thought it was intriguing how the forms of the meat are closely tied to the animal, as opposed to the distanced, processed meat one usually finds in America. I did not want to make this out to be disturbing, but sought to find beauty in the form through the use of the material and colors.
