Guilty Until Innocent

Juried Selection, National Student Show & Conference 17
Winner, EmDash Publication Scholarship, 2020

Student Work – 2020: I was given a New York Times magazine with a random article bookmarked. This article involved the wrongful conviction of a woman due to a malicious prosecutorial error. The goal of this project was to redesign a feature spread using a different concept and how it would translate into the table of contents and cover.
Photographed the ripped up pieces of paper for the cover alluding to the the farce of the justice system and how it can tear up people’s lives.
Black and white typography illustrating prison bars with the word “INNOCENT” hidden within.
A call-back to the covers where the subject is literally ripped apart due to a prosecutorial error.
