These cupcakes were made with vanilla buttercream frosting. Red gel food coloring was added to achieve the pink color in the icing. The cake is made with chocolate batter. Before adding the rose to the cupcake, the tops of the cupcakes must be cut off. Even though cutting off the top of the cake makes a flat surface, the more icing the better. A lot of icing is needed on the tops of the cupcakes so that there are no spaces between the cupcake and the rose toppers.
