settling for differences
when entering and exiting
the college doors
Thank you for your presence
during my anguish
My story was seen
by your eyes
My laugh and joy
were in your heart
You brought joy
in moments of darkness
You learned as much
from me
as I learned
from you
Thank you for permitting me
to see that releasing tears
is as powerful
as a smile
Your soul was the flower
I needed to observe
