Work In Progress - For The Birds
Current State of Work in Progress:
The following photos are periodic documentation of my creation of this piece, For the Birds. This piece started when I found this old wall mounted outdoor metal sign that said, "Hair Masters", at our local building supply reuse store Second Use. The sign is approximately 8 feet long and we wanted something colorful to help liven up our patio space. I have not used One Shot sign painting paints before so I am excited to learn from this project about working with these enamel paints. In addition I have recently started using Adobe Fresco and this gave me an opportunity to use it to do some color studies and develop a plan for how I was going to tackle painting after I had my layout work completed.
Step 1: Remove vinyl letters
Step 2: Layout. I wasn't sure how I was going to tackle this. I started off with the Toucan (like) bird in the center. I did not have a plan for all these birds. I was thinking more about plants and foliage as the focus but quickly shifted focus to birds as I developed it. At this stage the work is all in pencil followed by sharpie.
Step 4: Painting outlines
Step 5 Color Studies on Adobe Fresco
