VIVE Air VR Headset

VIVE Air VR
The VIVE Air VR is specially designed for virtual fitness. The original concept is to create a VR headset like marathon shoes that feels comfortable under high-intensity and over long use.

Background
Rethinking Home Fitness Screens
Home workouts have rapidly evolved. You've probably encountered those massive, crystal-clear screens with lively instructors guiding you step by step. It's undeniably convenient, but have you ever paused and pondered – is this the best we can do for every exercise routine?

Pain Points
The Limitations of Fixed Fitness Screens
Imagine lying flat on the floor for core exercises or needing a side perspective to perfect your form. Do those static, oversized screens still serve their purpose? And let's not even start on how mirror reflections might deceive us. The reality? Fixed screens aren't cut out for every move. And mirrors? They sometimes show us what we want to see, not what we need to.

Opportunity
Dreaming of a Dynamic Fitness Guide
Envision a fitness guide tailored to you, moving with you, always offering the optimum angle. The big question is: what could make this dream a reality?

Challenge
Enter Virtual Fitness: Not Without Its Challenges
Virtual Reality seemed like the knight in shining armor. But with great innovation come great challenges. For starters, the sweat from intense routines could dampen the inside of the headset. Not to mention, standard VR designs might not withstand the vigor of full-blown workouts.

Idea
Marathon-Grade VR Design
Our eureka moment was conceptualizing a VR headset that mirrors the resilience and comfort of marathon shoes, designed for endurance and intensity.

Style Exploration
After finalizing the structure, we used Illustrator to explore the design.

Deliver
Introducing the Future: Machine-Washable VR
To begin with, in order to bring this vision to life, we decided to design a VR headset that is machine-washable. We incorporated a quick-release mechanism to separate the electronic components from the soft fabric body.

Enhanced Headset Cooling
With workouts turning up the heat, we dialed up our cooling game. We redefined the cooling mechanism, integrating materials that not only breathe but also dry swiftly, ensuring comfort remains uncompromised.

Optimized Athletic VR Fit
The innovative lightweight structure reduces the burden of the head-mounted display, allowing users to focus on the virtual content. Elastic bands on both sides increase the fit between the HMD and the athlete’s head during the most vigorous workouts.

Real-time Posture Feedback
By using smartphones or additional webcams, you can instantly check whether your posture is correct. Furthermore, fitness instructors can guide your movements through these side-view images, ensuring you execute exercises correctly and reduce the risk of injury.
