IPAA Welcomes Decision on Hydraulic Fracturing Rule

Drawing on decades of energy industry experience across Tulsa, OK, Steve Antry is the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of Eagle Resources Group, one of the prominent energy firms in the state. Alongside the company, which he established in 2009, Steve Antry is a long time member of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), which has represented oil and gas providers over the past 90 years.

The association has welcomed a ruling by U.S. District Court for Northern California Judge Haywood Gilliam that rejected challenges to the Trump administration’s repeal of a rule regulating hydraulic fracturing across public lands. The IPAA argued that the law, which was introduced by the Obama administration in 2015, made hydraulic fracturing on federal lands overly costly.

When the rule was introduced, the IPAA and other groups launched an immediate challenge, arguing that it would place an undue burden on gas and oil companies when operating on federal property. As such, IPAA chief executive officer and president Barry Russell welcomed Judge Gilliam’s ruling, saying that the law has come full circle.
