App Design | Snakes of Thailand

App Design  |  Snakes of Thailand
The task was to design the look and layout of a mobile application, as well as an event stand for launch, a promotional video, website, and a poster.

The app I created is designed to help people in Thailand quickly and easily identify snakes, as well as provide life saving first aid information and assistance in having nuisance snakes removed.
I began by sketching the rough layout of the main screens within the app. I had 4 main sections in mind - a list of all snake species individually clickable to bring up specific information, a "quick ID" questionnaire to rapidly identify snakes based on their characteristics, a first aid & emergency page, and a section which can put you in touch with local snake catchers.
When opening the app for the first time, you are presented with 3 intro screens which provide the user with an introduction and a brief tutorial.
The species section has a list of all snakes found in Thailand and shows their common name, Latin name, and danger level. When you tap any of the species, it brings up an extensive info page on said snake which includes images, a range map, size diagram, detailed information, as well as a bite protocol for dangerous species. Use the hamburger menu to toggle between sections of the app.

The Quick ID section consists of a series of questions and makes suggestions beneath which are updated in real time the more questions are answered.
The Emergency section contains various emergency numbers, as well as a map which gives you directions to the nearest hospital.

The Removal section shows the locations of local snake catchers, and you can tap them to bring up their contact info or directly SMS them your coordinates.
This is an overview of the wire-frame behind the app, consisting of 185 screens and near 1000 buttons.
The website is as simple and straight forward as possible, following the same style and color palette. It has 3 pages:

Download - contains info on where to get the app, and the promo video.
About - contains info about the app and the vision of the people behind it.
Social Media - Contains links to the associated Facebook groups, to assist people who don't have the app with snake related problems.
The event stand features 3 large banners advertising the main features and uses, as well as a terrarium containing a live snake to catch people's interest. The snake is not accompanied by any information, but instead there is a phone next to it with the application open so people can look it up themselves and realize how easy and useful the app is.
Finally, I created this A3 poster to promote the app.
